Brome, bald

(a.k.a. Meadow brome, Hairy brome, Hairy chess)

Bald brome is an introduced grass from Europe. It likes disturbed areas and has become invasive. It grows to heights of about 1-4 feet. The lower leaf sheaths are hairy. The awns are 1/4-1/2 inch in length.
